For this activity we took inspiration from Kevin Cummins, the official photographer for the production, who is well-known both for his iconic portraits of musicians and his stunning shots of vibrant urban life. In keeping with Kevin’s signature style and the setting of Simon Stephens’ play, we tasked budding photographers to find an evocative image that, like Port, really captured the heart of a city.
The competition was promoted via in-store postcards and posters, the London Camera Exchange Facebook page and the National Theatre website, while the National Theatre created a landing page to display the entrants and the winner in an online photographic gallery.
The winner won two tickets to Port, a signed book by Kevin Cummins and £150 worth of London Camera Exchange vouchers.
Given the fantastic exposure and the brilliant prizes unsurprisingly the competition was also very popular, attracting over 200 entries and significantly increasing traffic to the Port microsite.
