AKA’s work renowned live event producer and registered charity Artichoke over the past four years has helped build a diverse audience across their public events and also promote the brand as a leader in accessible public art. Most recently, we were asked to lead the first phase of an exciting new website relaunch and brand evolution for the organisation’s Lumiere Light Festival.
Having worked on the festival’s previous brand development in 2015, AKA’s thorough understanding meant we could smoothly and simultaneously evolve the brand for 2019, alongside redeveloping the main Lumiere website; all in time to celebrate the festival’s tenth year in Durham.
The design focuses predominantly on creating a flexible, contemporary brand logo for use on different backgrounds, whilst bringing the website to life through the use of bright colour palettes, video, animation, modular page transitions and a brand-new interactive archive.
The refreshed site uses a modular approach, accommodating a wide variety of page structures across multiple devices all whilst remaining extremely low-maintenance. The next planned phase will involve an interactive programme for the 2019 festival, editorial-style blog and user-generated content wall.
