aka’s Make Yourself More Interesting initiative is a fun internal competition that rewards anyone with a creative proposal to make themselves that little bit extra special. One of our winners this year was Client Services Account Executive Alex Johnson, who pledged to get as far from aka offices in London as he possibly could for £500.

We have already covered the beginning part of his journey and the remainder of his trek was no less exciting! All in all, Alex managed to traverse 11 different countries, using 6 different currencies and some very flexible communication skills. Accompanied by a rubber chicken (kindly donated by our Box Office and Ticketing team), Billy Elliot bear and Gingy from Shrek The Musical, Alex took trains, buses, cars and ferries on his economising trip through Europe, before finishing his quest on the Asian side of Turkey, an amazing 1,555 miles away from the office.

As you can see from the gallery below, Alex’s journey was a fairly eventful one; it certainly qualifies as being a one-of-a-kind experience! And while it was a huge amount of fun – both to undertake and also to read about from the safety of our offices – Alex has also raised an impressive amount for our two charities.

If you’d like to contribute, please visit www.akamakeadifference.com. All proceeds will go to aka’s charities: Nanyuki Preparatory School in Kenya and a selection of elite Paralympic athletes who will be competing at the London 2012 games.
