With the London 2012 Olympics well on their way, hit musical Rock of Ages is getting involved – in its own inimitable style. As the musical that takes Air Guitar all the way up to 11, Rock of Ages is spearheading a campaign to make Air Guitar an officially recognised Olympic sport.
To support this initiative, aka has secured a hugely exciting cross-promotional global partnership with legendary guitar brand Gibson, Time Out London and American Airlines (in conjunction with Rock of Ages on Broadway).
The campaign’s objective is to receive 100,000 signatures for the Rock of Ages Air Guitar petition and aka is using every channel to achieve this aim, including an exclusively negotiated launch in association with Time Out London, an e-shot to aka’s Hot Tickets database of 25,000 subscribers and support through social media channels like Twitter and Facebook.
Engaging die hard rock enthusiasts and musical fans is central to the success of the campaign and their involvement won’t go unrewarded. Each rocker that lends their name to the petition will be automatically entered into a competition to win fantastic prizes, all of which have been secured by the promotions team at aka. The goodies up for grabs include two return economy flights to New York courtesy of American Airlines, two top price tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway, dinner for two at the Hard Rock Café, a three night stay at a central New York Hotel and a Gibson SG Classic Guitar.
