A LENTICULAR LOOK FOR MARY STUART

The Almeida’s critically acclaimed Mary Stuart takes a unique approach to its casting, with the decision of who plays Mary Queen of Scots and Elizabeth I at each performance being determined by the toss of a coin. Nobody, including the lead actors Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams, knows the result each time.

The production recently transferred to The Duke of York’s Theatre and in an exciting first for the West End, the theatre’s Front of House features lenticular panels that showcase two entwined images of the play’s main characters – a captivating piece of artwork that reflects the distinctive, changeable nature of the show itself.
