TICKETING TIPS
There are loads of different ways to buy tickets.
You can book online by following the links on the website to our ticketing partners Ticketmaster or SEE Tickets. You can also book by phone 24 hours a day with either agency.
Alternatively you can book in person at the Aldwych Theatre 10am-8pm Monday - Saturday (but please note that if you come just before a performance you may be asked to wait a few minutes).
If you want to book a hotel and or travel as well as your tickets then contact Superbreaks or follow the links in the tickets section.
Alternatively you can book through any of the major theatre ticket agents.
Make sure you only buy tickets from an approved ticket agent. Never buy tickets from touts or "Scalpers". When buying tickets you should never pay a booking fee of more than 25% of the face value of the ticket. Make sure that you are told the exact location of your seats and the face value of the tickets. For further information about buying tickets from an agency and for a list of approved ticket agents visit www.s-t-a-r.org.uk
Whilst it's true that Dirty Dancing has sold a lot of tickets there are still seats left at over the next few months. From July onwards there is limited availability for Monday - Thursday and Friday matinee performances. Towards the end of July and into August you will find a few more seats available. If you want a Saturday performance you will need to start looking at performances from December 2008 onwards.
You can often buy tickets at lower prices as soon as next week. Or why not try for a seat with a slightly restricted view? These seats can offer great value, as in most cases, only a very small part of the stage is obscured. These seats are often the last seats to be sold, and can be available to buy on the day or week of the performance. Check for these online, or by calling or visiting the theatre. It is best to have a choice of dates in mind when enquiring. STOP PRESS Thursday evenings have great availability through Summer 2008!
If you are looking to buy a top price ticket availability is more limited. There are a few top price tickets available on midweek performances in June, July and August but for wider availability you will need to be booking for Autumn 2008 onwards. You should have no problems booking top price tickets for midweek performances from September 2008. Saturday matinees start to become available from late December 2008. Saturday evenings have almost sold out of top price tickets until April 2009 onwards.
Because there are no group rates valid during popular school holidays (half terms, Christmas and Easter etc) some of the performances during these times currently have the best availability. Why not try a Friday performance - there are two shows on a Friday. It is always worth checking out these performances - you never know you may be lucky. Also - don't forget to check on the day of the performance for day seats or returns. But be quick - these tickets won't be available for long. STOP PRESS - good top price seats now available over the Christmas and New Year 2008/2009 weeks, but hurry - they are selling quickly!
Whilst there are no guarantees it is always worth ringing up, checking online or visiting the theatre in the week of the performance - sometimes spare tickets are returned or released for sale in the week of the show or on the day of the performance from 12pm.
Sometimes ticket agencies may still have seats that they haven't sold. Check out the list of reputable ticket agents at www.s-t-a-r.org.uk
If you buy your tickets in person at the Aldwych Theatre you will not be charged a booking fee.
The best place to sit is down to personal preference. The top price tickets are in the stalls (stage level) or the dress circle (first balcony). In the stalls you feel really close to the action, in the dress circle you get a great overview of the stage and it is a great place to see some of the fantastic dancing.
Some of the best value seats are in the upper/grand circle (second balcony) where you get fantastic clear views of the stage without having to pay top price.
