DIRTY DANCING - THE CLASSIC STORY ON STAGE RAISES £26,443 FOR BREAST CANCER CARE

February 27, 2006

On Wednesday 13th June Dirty Dancing's dance captain Sarah Bowden will undertake a non-stop international cycle ride to raise money for Prostate Cancer. The journey departs from London at 6.30am and will finish 4 days and just under 300 miles later under the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Having undertaken a rigorous training routine of cycling, spin classes and of course dancing in eight shows a week in Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage, Sarah is ready to ride and will raise over £1000 for Prostate Cancer.

Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. Every year over 32, 000 men are diagnosed and 10,000 die. The Prostate Cancer Charity is the UK's largest in the field of prostate cancer. The charity funds research into the causes, prevention and treatment of the disease and the impact of living with the disease as well as promoting awareness among the public, media and government.

Sarah has chosen to support The Prostate Cancer Charity because: 'Every girl has a father and a grandfather, and I know so many of my friends that have men in their lives that have been touched by this, I wanted to give something back, for the men in our lives.'

This cycle ride has been organised by Skyline Events; a unique event management company which specialises in organising charity fundraising events across the UK and overseas. Since its inception 15 years ago Skyline has helped to raise over £30M for more than 1,500 charities - ranging from large household names such as Marie Curie Cancer Care and British Red Cross to local charities such as hospices and community groups. The London to Paris cycle ride is one of Skyline's most popular trips with over 400 people expected to complete the route in 2007, raising over £1/2M pounds for their favourite causes and cycling a total of 140,000 miles between them.
