Kathryn Dunn
Associate Choreographer
Gabriel's career as a dancer started in New York City at the age of 18. He worked with choreographers such as Margo Sappington and July Barnsley. He was a soloist dancer with the contemporary dance company Danzahoy, Collective Action and a guest dancer with Ballet Nuevo Mundo de Caracas directed by Zhandra Rodriguez. In 1993 he was awarded best contemporary dancer by the International Theatre Institute and invited to participate at their 25th International Theatre congress held in Munich.
She then joined Graeme Murphy's Sydney Dance Company as a freelance artist performing in The Protected Veil, Piano Sonata, Black and Blue and Gloria. She has also danced with the Chunky Move Dance Company and Stephen Page's Bangarra Dance Theatre and played Stella in Anthony Shaffer's The Thing in the Wheelchair, directed by Dianne Cilento at the Karnak Playhouse, Queensland.
Theatre: Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), in which she covered and played Roxie Hart, Contact (Queens Theatre) directed by Susan Stroman and On Your Toes at the Royal Festival Hall.
TV: Guest role in Channel Nine's Water Rats, the ABC drama Wet.
Film: The Phantom of the Opera, directed by Joel Schumacher and Beyond The Sea directed by Kevin Spacey, and the short films Null and Void and Black.
Choreography: Bruce Beresford's Paradise Road and I.D., a children's show for the Sydney Opera House which she also codirected. Kathryn assisted Meryl Tankard on Pearl, for Tiffany's in NewYork and was an invited artist to participate in a workshop for DV8 directed by Lloyd Newsom. Most recently Kathryn was Associate Choreographer to Peter Darling on Billy Elliot (Victoria Palace Theatre), directed by Stephen Daldry and to Kate Champion on the European Premiere of Dirty Dancing (Hamburg).
